Concord Point Lighthouse, Havre de Grace, Md.
The Bassin Bunch Bass Club was formed in
the fall of 1999, with 7 charter members. Since then the Club's roster has
varied from six to twenty two members and is currently 14 members
strong.
The Club's founding principles were
to hold tournaments with an equal emphasis on Fishing, Supporting the
Youth of our community, and to preserve our environment and contribute to it's
conservation.
The Bassin Bunch Bass Club, Inc. has received numerous
awards in it's short existence including the Maryland Bass Federation's Chapter of the Year in 2000 , 2001
and 2004.
Club Tournaments
The Bassin Bunch Bass Club holds 9 or 10 Tournaments per year. All
tournaments are of the DRAW Format. That is the Boaters and non-Boaters
are paired by random drawing. Trophies are awarded after each tournament, for the first three
places, the Lunker fish, and the winning Boater/Non-Boater team.
Youth Activities
The future of our sport is it's youth. The Club supports the Youth in
our communities by sponsoring a
Junior Chapter, holding
CastingKids competitions throughout the year. The Bassin Bunch Bass
Club, in cooperation with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" program, have provided 10 such events at the Harford
Glen Environment Center each year since 2000. We also participate in the
CastingKids completions at the Maryland State Fairground during the
annual Fishing Expo. Click onto Youth Activities
to see what the "Kids" are up to.If you have a Organization or related business interested in sponsoring a CastingKids competition at your location, contact our Youth Director at YouthDirector@bassinbunch.com.
Conservation
The Bassin Bunch Bass Club holds an annual "Clean up Day" on historic
Garrett Island. The Club members scour the shores removing items as
small as a soda can to as large as a 250 gallon fuel oil tank. One
year, 2002, this project was incorporated in to the larger River Sweep Project where both sides of
the Susquehanna River were cleaned from the mouth of the river to the
Conowingo Dam.
Members of the Bassin Bunch Bass Club participate in the Perch Spawn
Survey each spring.
The Club goals for 2008:
To improve our skills as anglers through a fellowship of friendly exchange of fishing techniques and ideas, to promote and encourage youth fishing through the Junior Bass Club and CastingKids events, environmental awareness, and to increase the general public's awareness about environmental issues.
